Hills Plymouth v Gorseinon
(Second XI)

This game was washed out after a very promising start by Hills’ batsmen. The visitors put Hills into bat, and claimed two early wickets. Dickie Bowen fell in the first over, caught by Murphy off the bowling of C Jenkins, and Dai Fowler followed in the next over, caught by A Stone off R Matthews. Despite a couple of rain breaks, Matthew Lewis put on a solid stand of 39 with Mark Chamberlain, until the latter was caught by J Matteo off Matthews.

Another fine stand of 52 ended when Robbie Wathen was caught by J Evans off Matteo’s bowling. Young Lewis continued to hold firm and reached his 50 with a confident boundary. Jeremy Crocker partnered Lewis until the weather finally put an end to any hopes of a conclusion. Crooker scored 7 not out, including a six, and Lewis was undefeated with an excellent 56. Hills were left disappointed as the prospect of a victory was washed away.

Points were split evenly, 6 for each side.
