Hills laid the foundation for a fine win with an excellent batting performance. The first wicket fell early on, Dickie Bowen bowled by Martin for 5. Dai Fowler was his usual belligerent self, smashing 40 runs before being caught at slip off Martin. Mark Chamberlain was next to go when he was caught off Cook for 10, after a good partnership of 42. Matthew Lewis fell soon after, lbw to Cook for a solid 29. Another strong stand of 35 between Nick Thomson and Jason Castaldi took the score on to 133, when Thomson was bowled by Cook for 22. Cook claimed his fourth victim when he caught and bowled Jeremy Crocker for 6. Castaldi went on to reach 26 before being caught at point off  M Thomas. Cook took another catch off his own bowling, dismissing Ian Hargreaves for 3 runs. Aled Walters pushed the score on and reached a fine total of 28 before becoming Cook’s third caught and bowled of the day, the bowler finishing with 6 for 35. Andrew Hargreaves and Adam Prosser completed Hills’ innings, adding 3 and 6 respectively, for a total of 212.

Skewen started badly, losing opener Owens in the first over, caught by Matthew Lewis off Andrew Hargreaves. Young Hargreaves took two more wickets in his opening spell, when he bowled Jones for 11 and provided a catch for father Ian to dismiss opener Cook for 11. Jason Castaldi came on to bowl, and in his 10 overs claimed 5 wickets for 38 runs. He bowled R Davies for 1, and had M Thomas and House caught for nought and 2. Batsmen Evans and Martin provided some hope for the visitors, until Martin was caught by Aled Walters off Castaldi for 25. Evans went on to score an excellent 76 until he was caught by Jeremy Crocker off the bowling of Dai Fowler. Castaldi took his fifth wicket before Andrew Hargreaves returned to the attack and had last man Davies caught by Adam Prosser to claim his fourth wicket for 22 runs. Hills claim 28 points, and Skewen 7 points.
